Five Years in the Tumble Dryer of Life
It's been a full five years since I posted on my blog. That feels like a chasm of time. What have I been doing with myself? Just a few things have happened in the interval: the Cantankerous Farmer and I added another Wee Farmer to our family, I got a job that I love, we rearranged our farming venture significantly, and I'm sure a few other things happened that I'm forgetting about. My memory of the last five years is patchy due to so, so many hours of lost sleep. But this past year I feel like I've emerged from a fog. Wee Farmer II, let's call him William, since that's his name, is a big, independent four-year-old. Wee Farmer I, Taiya, is a big, even more independent first grader. And the Cantankerous Farmer, Jeremy, is actually a tiny bit less cantankerous, though he probably doesn't realize it.My recent passions have been: understanding the intricacies of soil ecology, continuing to hone my skills as a poet, attempting to include more fermentation in my cooking and eating, and I just got a froe for Christmas so I'm going to try to learn how to split shingles. Because why not?
I am going to try to start posting more regularly about our farm, food discoveries, family, and writing. Here's to the next five years!
So delighted to read your blog, Nina! Yes, here's to the next five years, and to every single day as we meet them.
