Day 112: A Birthday Delivery, and Cars
We drove into town to leave it on their garden bench, waved at them through the front window, and then drove off. I was a little teary pulling away from their house. It is almost easier to not see people at all than to come close to seeing them but not be able to actually spend time with them. Taiya, as we were driving away, said, "It must be so hard for people in the city during the coronavirus. We are so lucky to live in the country!" I am so glad she feels that way.
In the late afternoon, Jeremy came back from doing chores with a major score. His Aunt Shanna was cleaning out a barn that had some of her grown children's old toys. She gave us two cases of matchbox cars and one case that folds open and has a whole town inside with "micromachines" that can drive around it. I remember micromachines from when I was a kid, but I never had any. William and Taiya were both fascinated by all of this, and the new-to-them toys kept them busy and happily playing together for quite a while. I have to admit, Jeremy and I were pretty psyched too. You're never too old for matchbox cars.
