Day 202: Devil's Den Adventure
We decided to go to nearby Devil's Den State Park for our anniversary celebration. We left mid-morning and took the back, twisty-turny way to the park. Once we arrived and found a parking space (it was bustling!), we hiked, climbed, posed for pictures, picnicked, played with monster trucks, threw rocks into water, and collected pretty leaves and interesting sticks.
When we got home I made a large batch of split pea soup with a smoked ham hock in it. This was Queen Pee's specific request when I offered to bring her food after she got out of the hospital. (She's out! She's recovering!). I made enough for us and to share. As you can see, it's as thick as London fog, the spoon was able to stand straight up in it. Not the most aesthetically pleasing of soups, but certainly one of the most tasty. We'll be delivering her a jar on Sunday.
