Day Fifty-Eight: Rainy Day
It was cold and rainy all day. I stayed in my pajamas all day. I let the kids watch shows a lot of the day. Taiya has been listening to Anne of Avonlea on audiobook a lot, so she listened to that for a few hours. I worked. Jeremy was gone working. Daisy has an injury on her leg (she learned the hard way that scythes are not to be played around) so she was subdued. It was a subdued, rainy, pajama-clad day. I made chicken noodle soup for lunch, a meal designed for this type of day. Taiya peeled and chopped the carrots for the soup with a new peeler and knife she got as a gift from Laura. I have a feeling we'll be cooking a lot more meals with carrots in the future, she enjoys it so much.
The highlight of the whole day was brief but exciting: I saw my first painted bunting ever! Jeremy has spotted them on the farm, but I had never seen one. And yet there it was, right outside the window, brilliantly colored like a tropical bird that has been blown off course. I gasped when I saw it, and we all ran outside on the porch to try to watch it as it flitted away.
