We can actually tell the difference between week days and weekends now that the kids are back in school. They are excited not to have to do school work on the weekends, and so everyone was excited waking up on a Sunday morning with nothing to do but fun. So here's what we did:

| William and I were hanging out outside, and I asked if I could take a picture of him that would show his eye color. I almost did it, if you zoom in. It's brown around the pupil and green around the outside of the iris. So beautiful. |

Jeremy made a side-table for the porch out of a slab of cedar we've had lying around for years. William enjoyed helping sand it.

I made candles! I had bought wicks and beeswax, and made them with a little coconut oil and peppermint essential oil. It seemed so easy, but then when they cooled they had big holes in the middle from cooling too fast or something. So now I'm googling "troubleshooting DIY candles in jars." I guess I should have pre-warmed the jars, then cooled them very slowly, and then said a prayer over them standing on one foot.
I made so many things with basil! I made pesto, basil vinaigrette, and basil salt. And I still have more basil. The basil salt is beautiful, but it doesn't taste as as basily as I had imagined it would, even though I used way more basil than the recipe said. The pesto and vinaigrette turned out delicious though.

I made a barley beet salad with a honey balsamic vinaigrette. It was a mish-mash of several recipes in my "Once Upon A Tart" cookbook, and it turned out delicious. I will be happily eating it for lunch all week.
